What is Chéngyǔ?

Chéngyǔ (成语) are a type of Chinese idiom, almost always four characters long, with roots in classical Chinese literature. Each one exists to hold onto a story, a life lesson, or a bit of practical advice.

Chéngyǔ are used widely today and each one carries a piece of Chinese culture with it.

About the Site

I made this site because I wanted to learn more chéngyǔ myself. I love art and art history so to help memorize the Chéngyǔ I paired them with art from China.
